East Branch SnoRovers

About Us-History of the Club

The East Branch SnoRovers was formed on October 11, 1972 in Medway with 170 snowmobilers from the area in attendance.  In 1973, the clubhouse was built using the former East Millinocket town garage which was purchased for $1.  The volunteers of the club tore down this garage and rebuilt it on the current site in Medway near the former Hathaway Farm along the East Branch of the Penobscot River.  The first meeting in this “new” building was held December 18, 1973.  Final completion of the building was in 1978.

In 1981 and 1982, the East Branch SnoRovers were declared by the State of Maine as the #1 club in Maine.  In 1992, the Maine Snowmobile Association presented the East Branch SnoRovers a plaque in recognition of outstanding maintenance of the ITS and club snowmobile trails.
